Two things have happened in the last few days: (1) Marc Maron, while interviewing Fred Armisen on WTF, recommended—by saying, in typical Marc fashion “I actually laughed in the first episode” or something like that—Portlandia, an IFC sketch comedy show and (2) I just saw this morning that the Vulture linked to my SXSW Live Blog because I wrote about Todd Phillips talking about their being “collateral damage” in comedy.
The reason these two things are connected is because of Brendan’s thoughts about Portlandia. This show does hit really close to home. Even though I’m not really a hipster, I hang out with a lot and I’m sort of on the hipster periphery. In this way, I see there being some collateral damage in this comedy. This show hurts a little, but not as much as it totally destroys me (in a good way). This show is amazing and hilarious. Check out how they open the first show.
