It’s only days until I pack up and head towards the southwest part of Saskatchewan for my birthday party weekend and I am getting really excited. Leah and I went to garage sales this weekend and found some good stuff, including a beautiful cast iron pot. It was the prize of the weekend. For those of you coming (or wanting to come (let me know)) I am going to sweeten the pot with some information about where we will be staying and an impressive testimonial from my Uncle Les. We are staying at Lone Pine campground (Cypress Hills, SK Side). First, from the park website:
Lone Pine – Secluded, private and well treed!
Located near Lone Pine Creek and the Highland Trail, in the heart of our Lodgepole Pine forest, this campground features a play area with a playground, 20 individual campsites (small units only), two camp kitchens (with electricity), running water and flush toilets. A private campground located off the beaten path, away from the hustle and bustle, it’s 1.5 km from the main park services and facilities; or, a five minute drive or 15 minute walk.
Update: Visit the Inter-provincial park website for more information.
Following the previous sentiments, here is what my Uncle Les had to add:
Lone Pine is the best place in the whole park. We have all been there about three times. It has the flush toilets, running water and two camp kitchens. Just turn left(south) inside the park entry booth and travel on pavement slowly less than a kilometer.
Also there are a handful of events that the park is putting on during the festive long weekend.

And this is only the beginning. There will be bocce ball, croquet and we bought a frisbee this weekend that turns purple in the sun, it’s amazing. Plus there is everything the park has to offer! And if none of that peeks your interest, there is always beer.

That sounds like fun! Enjoy the weekend and yer birthday and do everything I would do, only better!
Thanks Tracy. It’s too bad you can’t come, but I hope you are having fun in Regina. I promise not to jump on any trampolines!
Rhett – bring you bike or try, I think we all are bringing them and will find somewhere fun to kill ourselves… Canadian tire has really good-cheap car racks ($40 – last year I got one for) that work on any vehicle… if the redcommi cycle can’t make it let me know and we will try and throw in an extra bike…

Thanks Curt!
