In my early twenties I went to a music festival in Saskatoon and heard the best live music I have ever experienced—A Perfect Circle. APC is fronted by Maynard James Keenan, who also is the lead for TOOL. Maynard has that perfect and brilliant mix of being able to sing and scream. For vocals, I’d put him with others like Dave Grohl, Chester Bennington and even Holly McNarland. Though his musical talent is, I would think, beyond any of those people. Anyway, APC’s show was amazing for it’s tribal/spiritual quality. It spoke to my base desires. The drumming was so instinctual. And the vocals spiritual.
I’ve been hearing this song on the radio lately and have really enjoyed it; it’s called The Mission. I didn’t know who did it and always wanted to check it out. And I discovered it’s Maynard’s side project Puscifer. No wonder I connected with it. Take a listen.
