I better start by explaining “PHAT LEWT”. It’s an online gamer term or it was on my server in UO. It might have only been something me and my friends said. Gamers love to change words around and put numbers in them. I don’t necessarily understand it, but I do think it’s awesome. Like if you wanted to say you are elite, you would say 31337. Phat, I guess, comes from fat, but not like obese but another term for awesome/cool/etc. Lewt is loot. If we got some really cool item off a monster or something we would say we got PHAT LEWT—usually this was a satirical thing to say. I think we were actually making fun of the idiot gamers that said stuff like that. I don’t really game anymore, but I do like to loot, because…
I come from a land down under / Where women glow and men plunder
I am a total scrounger. I horde things, everything. If I think it’s interesting, there’s a chance I will stash it away some where. Especially in places that I live/work remotely, like at the office. Last week, my pod/cubicle/workspace-mate left the job for sunnier fields and a grueling masters program for the fall. I wish her the best. However, ten minutes after she left I raised my pirate flag and plundered her desk for jewels, pens, organizers and rulers. Here is a current list of the booty I acquired from her desk:
- Pen organizer
- Dry white-out (something she always accused me of stealing when I never knew she had it, but now I did steal it!)
- A couple gnarly pens
- One nice notepad
- Couple sticky notepads
- One role of tape (even though I don’t have a tape dispenser)
- Four hanging file folders
- Two file organizers
That’s about it. PHAT LEWT!

A couple of comments… This post made me smile. I like the list. But, you are not from Oz and you refer to making fun of the the “idiot gamers” when… well, let’s be honest — weren’t you of the same category?
