Rhett Alexander Thomas Soveran was born July 1, 1982 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He lived, worked and went to school there until he graduated from the University of Regina in 2006. After his graduation he moved to Calgary, Alberta. And on September 2, 2006 Rhett married Leah (née Johnson) Soveran. Those currently seem to be the most important dates.
Rhett is enjoying his new life in Calgary. He has worked as a Senior Editor at Marketwire, a Web Project Manager at Zoom Communications and—currently—has found happiness as a Content Specialist at NETELLER. Rhett also does web and blog consulting for a few people on the side. However, other than that sentence, Rhett does not blog about work. But he does blog about, pretty much, everything else.
Writing
Saskatchewan
Rhett graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Creative Writing Concentration (2006). In Saskatchewan, Rhett attended many workshops and retreats including the Sage Hill Writing Experience (2003) with workshops lead by Sue Goyette and Phil Hall and received the Jerry Rush Scholarship. Rhett spent a summer as the Onsite Coordinator of Saskchewan Writers Guild’s (SWG) Writer/Artist Colony at St. Peter’s Abbey (2005). Saskatoon writer/poet, Shelley Leedahl mentored him through the SWG’s Mentorship Program (2005).
Alberta
Since moving to Alberta (2006), Rhett has joined the Writers Guild of Alberta and become very active in the writing community reading at the Red Mile Revenge, Single Onion and also creating and co-organizing a monthly reading called Soundlines (2007). Rhett lived the true rockstarpoet dream as he read at the South Country Fair in the summer 2007.
Rhett currently lives in Calgary, Alberta with wife, Leah, and working on being a writer.
