The Funny Family

The Soveran’s are funny people. There are people who believe that my mom is funny. I am generally not one of those people. However, I can admit that my mom can hold an audience and has a good public persona. My dad, for those who know him well, is funny in the most painful ways. I think light torture is his brand of humor. And I am, of course, a natural comedic talent. But there has always been the question of when Emily, my younger sister, was going to become funny.

Her whole life Emily has never been funny. Sure, she tries. She’s tough and sarcastic. But not really funny. But I think she has finally matured into a funny Soveran. I am happy to announce that Emily made me laugh pretty hard today with this picture of my dad and the caption below it on Facebook:

Just a man and his grapes.

Real Spoken Word

As I have mentioned before, I very rarely have any patience for spoken word poets. Reasons for that aren’t really important. But when spoken word is done well, it’s amazing. I heard this song by the Flobots the other day and Ben just posted the song and it reminded me I wanted to know more about it. I think these guys might be more hip hop, but poetry is poetry and this song is great. A great progression. I would suggest seeking out the video because it’s very interesting.

So here is Flobots’ “Handlebars”.

Your shot of Rhett

In case you really wanted to hear from me today and then arrived and realized I hadn’t posted anything… well you are in luck, because I posted on Christmas Future about My Story of Stuff.
