Vindication!

Mar 20, 2007 By Rhett Soveran in Asides 1 Comment

I had a certain peice of art in my mind last night and for the life of me I couldn’t figure it out. Thankfully, this job seems to attract a lot of art/fine art majors and I happen to sit beside an Art History major. So she helped me. I knew it was about a mystic and I thought the creator of the painting (turns out it was a sculpture) was a nun. I originally thought of Hildegaard. Not her. Then I thought it was St. Theresa of Avila but I couldn’t find any art by her. Then it turned out to be the sculpture of St. Theresa by Bernini. I give you the Ecstasy of St. Theresa:

10 Faces of Rhett

Mar 20, 2007 By Rhett Soveran in Featured 6 Comments

I prepared this blog last night. Tonight, I was looking at a whole bunch of old pictures. Do you guys/girls (well I’m sure you girls do) ever just get lost in yourself? Well I do and like to, regularly. I have an ego. It’s true. But, it keeps me healthy and doing all those things that make me obnoxious ((Leah’s studies have taught her that self-esteem might not be all it’s cracked up to be)). Anyways, I found 10 pictures that represent 10 different faces of me. There are more. This is in no particular order. A sampling, for you ((Is it possible for this blog to be any more wrapped up in me? I’m not sure. But we will get there some day folks!)).

Cat Food

Mar 19, 2007 By Rhett Soveran in Featured 7 Comments

It is a slow day at work today so I am taking some time to research cat food. I have often thought about looking into the quality cat food. After learning about the massive pet food recall on the news—I thought I better take a look around. I had many 12 hour days last week and I am still feeling a little burnt-out. So sitting around is nice. Anyways, back to the topic at hand.

South Country Fair

Mar 19, 2007 By Rhett Soveran in Featured No Comments

This is a little blurb from the SCF website. I will be reading on the Lotos Land Stage.

South Country Fair

The South Country Fair is the best kept secret in the South – it has been called the best festival of its size in Western Canada. Since its very first year the Fair has been a favourite spot for musicians to play and reunite with old compadres, because of the relaxed atmosphere. That relaxed and happy state always results in exemplary performances and onstage surprises when musical friends drop in to share a riff. But don’t believe us – come and see for yourself!

Sharp Thinking

From Leah’s text book called Social Psychology: Third Canadian Edition:

Explaining why people believe something says nothing about the truth of their beliefs. That is a logically separate issue. A psychology of religion might tell us why a theist believes in God and an atheist disbelieves, but it cannot tell us who is right. Explaining either belief does not explain it away. So if someone tries to discount your believes by saying, “You just believe that because…,” you might recall Archbishop William Temple’s reply to a questioner who opened the discussion after the archbishop’s address with this challenge: “Well, of course, Archbishop, the point is that you believe what you believe because of the way you were brought up.” To which the archbishop replied: “That is as it may be. But the fact remains that you believe I believe what I believe because of the way I was brought up, because of the way you were brought up.”

New Functions

Mar 18, 2007 By Rhett Soveran in Featured 4 Comments

Okay. I have been a bit busy! ((Not really busy, just enough time to look for fun plugins.)). I have added emoticons ((They aren’t as cool as I would have liked, but that is okay. They are cool enough for me. Plugin is broken. Looking into solutions.)) As you have noticed I have added a footnotes ((Footnotes are cool, but personally I like MLA formating better.)).

However my personal favourite is the new “Read More” function. Tracy complained before because she didn’t want to go into a whole new page. Now you don’t have to. You can click “Read More”.
